Who is Carol J. Smith? The Broker/Owner of Laurelhurst Realty, she has lived and worked in the neighborhood since 1977. She has been active in the neighborhood association and local business associations.
Carol has her designation as a "GRI" or Graduate of the Real Estate Institute as well as being a "CRS". Certified Residential Specialist is one of the highest designations a real estate agent can obtain. She recently earned the exclusive CRB designation
Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager. These designations are given by the National Association or Realtors after rigorous seminars and examinations. There is a very small number of agents that have taken the time to obtain these professional designations. Real Estate is a dynamic business. A good agent needs to continuously go to school. As a Broker owner, Carol is responsible directly to the Oregon Real Estate Commissioner. There continues to be more and more liability in the business.
Carol is also experienced in investment properties and the development of small land divisions. As a result of this, she has a good inventory of reliable tradesmen. Most home buyers today will get a home inspection. Most homes need something fixed.
Prior to selling real estate, Carol sold medical electronics equipment for Litton Medical Systems, GAF and General Electric Medical Systems. These companies offered extensive training in marketing, sales and administration. This was a ground up career where she started out as an order clerk, progressed to purchasing, office management, and finally to a very successful sales career. She started in Portland but was transferred to Los Angeles where her territory was the greater Los Angeles area.n.
Success was sweet but Oregon beckoned her back. Thus home to stay in 1977 to sell real estate and be home with her family. While living on Coe Circle for twenty years, Carol was very active in Laurelhurst Neighborhood Association. She is the founder of the Giant Multifamily Garage Sale. The proceeds are earmarked for the restoration of the Laurelhurst Arches.
